The moment a family member tells me they will be within 5 hours of us, my ears perk up. Living 12 hours from home is never easy, so if there is a chance to meet half way, Nick and I do whatever we can to meet them. Not only for us, but for our kiddos. I grew up in a very close family and having my children grow up in an area without family, I have momma-guilt that they can’t just walk down the street to their cousin’s house.
A few months back my sister let me know that their family would be in Galveston for my niece’s Nationals dance competition. Addie is 11 years old and dance is her LIFE. She practices all the time and has the will to perfect as many moves as she can. Each time we come home she is either stretching, dancing in the living room or doing her leaps outside. I love seeing her passion when she is on the stage.
So when my sister tells me this, I look right at Nick and say, “we need to go!” We have yet to see a dance recital and I was itching to watch her in person.
Unfortunately, a few weeks before we leave for vacation, we found out that the days she dances are OF COURSE the days we are not there. So instead we choose to make lemonade out of these lemons. We still go and spend as much time together as possible. At the end of our trip, we even got the girls all dolled up in their dance outfits and took the CUTEST photographs by the beach.
These girls LOVE dancing and I was so excited to see them both in their outfits! I hope you love them as much as I do.
